Stem Cells & Mesenchymal Cells

Stem cells are undifferentiated biological cells that can transform into any cell in the body and become human organs and tissues.  There are two broad types of stem cells: embryonic and adult.  In adults, stem cells act as a repair system for the body. Mesenchymal cells are one type of adult stem cells that have been used in orthopedic literature for a variety of treatment.  Mesenchymal cells are sterilely harvested with a needle from the patient’s bone marrow  and immediately injected into the injured area.

PRP Injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated solution of platelets that uses the innate power of the body for optimal repair and regeneration of injured tissue. The body’s own substances found in the platelets are necessary for healing damaged cells and tissues. Platelet-rich plasma therapy utilizes these substances, providing areas of injury or disease with a concentrated dose of the body’s own specific proteins, necessary inflammatory factors, and growth factors.
