Overview

Fractures occur after trauma to a bone or joint and present in many variations. Treatment can be surgical or non-surgical. When surgery is needed, hardware is generally used to reduce and stabilize the fracture so it can heal.

These surgeries can be performed in the inpatient or outpatient setting depending on acuity and severity. The length of surgery depends on the complexity of the fracture, and the recovery plan depends on the body part and procedure.

Physical therapy is needed after any fracture treatment to regain motion, function and strength.
